HACCP involves a systematic
risk assessment of all of the many steps involved
in animal feed manufacture, the identification
of those that are critical for product safety,
the introduction of controls and a monitoring mechanism
to ensure compliance.
Staff training programmes have been set up for
key staff to ensure implementation of a robust
HACCP plan and also for mill staff, to provide
awareness of responsibilities within the HACCP
plan. |

Animal feed compounders
benefit from the implementation of a HACCP plan
and key benefits may include:-
- The implementation of a preventative programme
to reduce product losses, product reworks and
product recalls
- A move from end product sampling and testing
towards a preventative quality assurance programme
- Supports a defence of ‘due diligence’,
recognised now in much of the EU feed safety
legislation
- HACCP facilitates International trade
- HACCP complies with legal requirements
